Troubleshooting Petitions
When a petition runs into an issue like if Indent is unable to notify reviewers or make provisioning changes, an event will be emitted with some details to debug. We're happy to help resolve any issues if you contact Indent Support.
If you saw an error in the application, here are some likely causes:
Why was this petition unable to notify reviewers?
If you see:
- "failed to find reviewers"
- "failed to notify reveiwers"
How to fix as an admin:
- Make sure there is an applicable rule for this resource in your Config.
- If you're notifying reviewers via Slack channels, make sure the
@Indent
bot is added to the channel. The easiest way is to mention the bot user, then click the "Add to channel" button.
Why did this petition fail to provision?
If you see:
- "failed to grant"
- "failed to revoke"
Depending on the installation, the petition may have failed to provision because:
- Integration API credentials are out-of-date.
- User being granted access is not available in that integration, for example adding user to an Okta Group, requires them to be a user in Okta first.
Why can't I review a petition?
If you see:
- "Sorry, you don't have permission to take action"
Depending on the applicable policy, you may not be able to review a petition because:
- You are not one of the defined reviewers.
- If you're the petitioner, the policy may disallow self approval.
- The petition may have timed out.
