Azure Active Directory Integration
This guide will show you how to setup the upcoming integration with Azure Active Directory and Indent. Note: The Azure AD integration is in early access. If you'd like access, please sign up.
Through API magic, Indent securely grants access to just about any service. Azure Active Directory are a great integration if your business already uses AD.
What can I do with Azure Active Directory + Indent?
- Streamline onboarding new hires
- Standardize permissions across roles
- Holistically transfer permissions when an employee moves to a new role
- Securely offboard users by instantly revoking access
Azure Active Directory is one of the many Identity Integrations on Indent. Other Identity Integrations include Okta, Slack, and many other providers on request.
Components
You will need one of the following:
Installation
This guide uses the Azure APIs to connect your existing Azure Active Directory to Indent. Once complete, you'll just need Global Admin for an Azure AD tenant in order to integrate. The steps will involve just a few clicks through SSO prompts.
Interactive Demo
In the following example, you're logged in as Fouad and can request access to an Azure Group. In real usage, you could also make a request for an Azure Group (like "SRE Team"), and grant every member of that group access to a resource (like a Kubernetes Cluster).
Try submitting and approving a request:
Summary
Once you've connected Azure AD and Indent, you can:
- Grant and revoke access to resources like Azure SQL
- Lock down access in Microsoft 365 to implement least privilege
- Add and remove users from sensitive mailing lists
- Streamline contractor onboarding and offboarding
Questions
Why can't I see my Azure resources on the drop down list?
Some Azure Active Directory are restrictive about who is able to view them. For Groups with strong security settings, you will need to type out the email of the group (like [email protected]).
You might also need to pull in an update of your Azure Active Directory. If you visit the Resources section of your Indent Dashboard, you can click Pull update → Azure Active Directory. If you find Groups are still absent, contact Indent Support.
What permissions do I need to connect Azure Active Directory + Indent?
You must be a Azure Admin in order to setup this integration.
