Setup for Temporary Admin Roles
You can use Indent to manage temporary admin roles in your critical systems like Google, Microsoft (Azure AD), and GitHub.
Goal: You want to limit the number of permanent admins to implement least-privilege access control.
How it works: Indent connects to existing tools to manage temporary admin roles.
- Request admin access from Slack or the Indent Dashboard.
- Review and approve access requests from Slack.
- Grant time-bound access to your admin roles like Super Admin.
- Automatically revoke access when it's not needed.
Step 1: Select integrations
- Go through the Indent Setup Wizard to pick the integrations you want to use.
- Click Next Step → to continue and confirm that you're an admin.
- Click Finish Setup → to continue and connect the systems via OAuth.
Step 2: Test with yourself
- Open indent.com/access and type
/access
in Slack. - Select the Resource you want to access.
- Review and approve the request in Slack.
- Check that access was provisioned to the admin role.
- Revoke access in Slack and check that access was revoked from the admin role.
Step 3: Onboard your team
- On the setup page, click Onboard your team.
- Select the team members you want to onboard, and click Onboard (X) people action.
- Select how they should be onboarded:
- Notify users — this will send the users a notification via Email/Slack.
- Create petitions — this will raise requests on behalf of the users.
- Click Onboard to send an onboarding message to your team members.
Conclusion
Congrats! You've just configured requesting and managing ephemeral temporary admin roles with Indent.
