A refreshed Indent

A refreshed app on web and desktop

Indent has a new look across chats, reviews, automations, and settings. Update the desktop app to get the shared web interface. Once updated, interface updates reach both without waiting for a new desktop release.

The model picker is searchable: open it from the composer and type a model or family name to narrow the list. In the sidebar, preview a session's pull request without leaving your current chat or interrupting the message you're writing.

Write your own review checks

Custom review checks are now available to every organization. Add your team's review standards to .indent/agents/<name>.mdc, with the agent's configuration in YAML frontmatter and its instructions in Markdown. The definitions live in the repository and go through your normal pull request process.

Choose when each check runs:

  • Required: the review does not finish until the applicable check has run.
  • Automatic: describe when it applies, and Indent decides whether to run it.
  • Manual: it runs only when someone requests it on the pull request.

In Settings → Code Review, you can see review findings and costs for each repository.

Run review checks where they matter

Required review checks can now target specific files or pull request authors. A database check can run whenever a change touches your database code, without running on every unrelated pull request.

In your .indent/agents/<name>.mdc definition, add paths or authors under required. Paths support directory patterns such as packages/db/** and exclusions prefixed with !. If you specify both paths and authors, the pull request must match both. You can still request a check manually outside its usual scope.

You can also dismiss an individual agent's request for changes using its checkbox in Indent's review on GitHub.

Tag Indent once in Slack

Indent can now recognize follow-up requests in a Slack thread without a new mention each time. Tag @indent to bring it into the thread, then reply with your next question, correction, or extra context. Relevant follow-ups stay in the same conversation. Mention Indent explicitly when you want to be sure a message is directed to it.

Work with Indent in Jira

With Jira connected, mention Indent on an issue, assign the issue to it, or start an agent session from the ticket. Follow-up work on that issue shares one Indent session, keeping the task and its context together. Indent can read attachments and post files back to Jira, so you can review the results where the work began.

To connect a site, add the Indent app to Jira, open its Configure page under Connected apps in Atlassian Administration, and choose Connect to Indent.

Also this week

  • Indent can read files attached to forwarded Slack messages and Slack message-link previews, so you can share the original message instead of downloading and re-uploading its attachments.
  • Archived the wrong session? Click Undo in the archive notification to restore it immediately.
